Job TitlePhysician (Hospitalist)DutiesServe as the day/night/weekend physician for Inpatient Medicine and assists in an outpatient clinic of a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), as needed.Perform highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment of inpatients for the Internal Medicine Service.Evaluate laboratory and clinical findings; differentiating among the various contributory causes and prescribes appropriate treatment.Follow through on cases to ensure effectiveness and alters course of treatment as indicated.Collaborate with specialists in other areas on cases involving interrelated problems.Serve as the attending physician and admits and discharges patients to the Medical Wards and Step-Down units.Treat patients including age ranges from young adult to geriatric.Work closely with the MTF's primary care providers, military consultants, and civilian consultants in the local community.Attend key medical meetings and conferences and serve as a subject-matter expert on areas of inpatient medicine.Serve as academic faculty and facilitates teaching and training of trainees.Plan, schedule, assign, and direct the work of others; establishes work priorities and deadlines; explains work requirements, methods, and procedures: as needed; and reviews work upon completion.Establish standards of performance and evaluates performance of students and residents.
