This is an individual contributor role designed for a seasoned energy finance professional ready to take ownership of client relationships, lead transaction execution, and drive business development across a dynamic and evolving sector. The Citi Mid-Corp Natural Resources team covers a mix of public and private primarily North American-based companies in the Upstream (E&P) and Midstream Oil & Gas, as well as Power, Utilities, and Clean Energy Transition sectors. The VP will play a central leadership role within deal teams, acting as the primary point of accountability between senior bankers, clients, and internal partners — while also mentoring and developing junior talent.Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Ownership: Lead coverage of a portfolio of clients owned by senior bankers / yourself, serving as a relationship contact and coordinating deal teams comprised of Analysts, Associates, and senior Credit OfficersBusiness Development: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the energy sector; originate and expand client relationships by leveraging deep industry knowledge and an established network across E&P, Midstream, Power, and Clean EnergyTransaction Leadership: Own and drive all facets of deal execution, including in-depth financial analysis, complex financial modeling, risk analysis, credit structuring, and due diligence for new and existing clients; serve as the senior reviewer and decision-maker on transaction deliverablesClient Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, independently managing relationships and anticipating client needs; lead client meetings, pitches, and strategic dialogues with minimal oversight from senior bankersCross-functional Collaboration: Partner with and coordinate across internal teams — including Capital Markets, M&A, Technical Advisory, Loan Structuring & Syndications, Commodities, Treasury & Trade Services, and Operations — to deliver integrated, customized financial solutions that meet clients' evolving needsTeam Leadership & Development: Mentor, train, and develop junior Analysts and Associates on the team; provide constructive feedback, model best practices, and contribute to a high-performance team cultureIndustry Expertise: Lead detailed company research and sector analysis to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities within the energy landscape, including the energy transition; proactively share market intelligence with clients and internal stakeholdersRisk Management & Compliance: Serve as a steward of sound risk management practices; appropriately assess risk in all business decisions with particular consideration for the firm's reputation and the safeguarding of the bank, its clients, and assets.
