Summary Senior/Consultant Financial Analyst | Incentive Programs & Executive Compensation As a Senior/Consultant Financial Analyst supporting Incentive Programs and Executive Compensation at APS, you will play a key role in managing and analyzing the company’s annual and long-term incentive plans for managers, directors, and executives. You will maintain accurate incentive and stock compensation data, track performance against established goals, and translate complex financial information into clear reporting for senior leaders, the Board, and other key stakeholders. This highly visible role combines financial analysis, incentive plan administration, advanced Excel-based tracking, and executive-level communication. Your work will help ensure incentive programs are administered accurately and effectively while supporting informed decision-making and APS’s long-term organizational goals. What Your Day Would Be Like Manage the analysis, tracking, and reporting of annual and long-term incentive plans, including stock-based compensation for managers, directors, and executives. Maintain accurate plan, participant, performance, and payout information using Excel and the company’s incentive tracking system. Partner with executives, Finance, and business leaders to provide consultation and communicate complex incentive information clearly. Prepare financial analyses and executive-level reporting for leadership, Board, and proxy-related needs. Lead process improvements and automation efforts that strengthen reporting accuracy, efficiency, and controls. Handle sensitive executive compensation information with discretion, sound judgment, and close attention to detail. Who We’re Looking For Experience in financial analysis, incentive compensation, executive compensation, stock plans, or performance reporting. Advanced Excel skills and experience managing complex financial or participant-level data. Strong analytical skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with executives and senior leaders. Ability to translate complex financial information into concise, meaningful reports and communications. Experience improving or automating tracking, analysis, and reporting processes. Strong organization, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple high-visibility deadlines. Minimum Requirements Bachelors' degree in finance, accounting economics, mathematics or related field PLUS five (5) years' related experience in financial analysis or in a financial, data analytics, or business operations related position in the utility or energy services industry Comprehensive knowledge of finance and economic analysis, business operations, or business planning. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong research, data management and effective management communication skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and database tools. Consultant Financial Analyst Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, engineering, information technology, mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. PLUS seven (7) years' experience in financial analysis or in a financial-related position in the utility or energy services industry. Comprehensive knowledge of finance, business planning and/or the proxy report process. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge Or Qualifications MBA or Master's degree and/or professional certifications (i.e. CPA, CFA, etc.) preferred. Significant knowledge of business processes, competitive trends, research, and data management. Demonstrated effective oral, written and presentation skills. Highest quality interpersonal and people management skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.). Experience with some analytical, financial, and/or business operations tools (i.e. Power BI, Cognos, PowerPlant, Hyperion, Maximo, MLIS, SCDW) may be desirable depending on area of assignment. Travel may be required for some positions. Major Accountabilities Performs routine to advanced level corporate financial tasks such as budgeting, variance analysis and short and long-term forecasting for the more complex business units and/or multiple business units. May serve as a business area budget lead/consolidator which involves coordination with other team members. Supports the monthly accounting close process by performing accruals and variance analysis, and preparation of variance explanations and communication to management. Ensures financial events and transactions are reported to Accounting for proper financial statement recording and accounting treatment. Serves as a lead frontline resource for mid- and senior-level business unit leadership and their organizations. Partners in administering department programs / plans by maintaining knowledge of each and preparing ongoing analyses of specific topics. Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems. Undertakes the development of limited scope financial and operational decision support and business unit planning projects and initiatives. Provide support in the development, compilation, presentation and communication of performance report packages for management reporting including identification of significant findings and conclusions through the use of existing technology and strong understanding of business unit financial and operations related data. May support the development of business planning for an internal business area. Responsibilities include facilitation of business plan process, metric selection, gap analysis, and initiative development. Provides training and support to business customers to ensure understanding of new or existing processes; may also provide training to team member within Finance & Accounting. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company business specifics. Develops comprehensive understanding of company, unit policies and procedures, accounting practices, and federal and state regulations. Identifies or partners in identifying continuous improvement opportunities within the organization and incorporate continuous improvement principles and practices into business unit partnerships. Provides support to other team members to enhance development and to drive increasing productivity in team processes.
