Staff Accountant I Hybrid position requiring one day in Houston BedQuarters per month; the remaining days remote. Job Details This hourly position involves high‑volume transaction processing, including invoices, vendor statements, and credit memos. The workflow is fast‑paced with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Essential Responsibilities Maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger Manage workflow for EDI invoices in the pending vendor invoices queue, research and resolve discrepancies associated with the processing of invoices Reconcile vendor statements monthly; ensure credit memos are processed correctly, and invoices are processed within discount terms Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe work environment for all Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts Follow company policies and maintain appropriate appearance and brand representation Communicate concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations Non‑Essential Responsibilities Complete other projects and special assignments as requested by supervisor and/or senior management Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, department, and company Education High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, related field, and/or equivalent experience required Professional Experience 0‑4 years of accounting experience required Skills List Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences Detail oriented, analytical, professional attitude, reliable Strong problem‑solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation, research and resolution skills, ability to analyze data and multitask Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced and high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Utilizes strong active listening skills, including the ability to focus on the speaker, understand their perspective and provide thoughtful feedback Manages time effectively while concentrating on more important priorities; quickly adapts to change in the work environment Willing to make difficult decisions while understanding when to gain consensus; calculates risk factors to measure potential obstacles and assess possible outcomes Reports for remote work within assigned time Competencies & Knowledge Microsoft Office products – high competency Intermediate/advanced Excel (lookups and pivot tables) – high competency Microsoft D365 – high competency Understanding of internal controls – high competency Understanding of account coding structures – high competency Balance sheet reconciliations – high competency EDI automation knowledge – high competency Benefits Included Excellent career growth opportunities through on‑the‑job training and development programs 401(k) with employer matching Mental health and life resources Medical, dental, prescription, and vision plans Get paid on‑demand Base pay or uncapped commission Employee discounts on Mattress Firm sleep products and accessories Compensation Competitive pay range of $54,000 – $58,000 depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the company. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular time.
