Communications Supervisor

The Gunnison Regional Communications Center is seeking an experienced public safety communications professional to join our leadership team as a Communications Supervisor. This is an outstanding opportunity for a current dispatcher or supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career while living and working in one of Colorado's most beautiful mountain communities. Our center provides 24/7 emergency communications for law enforcement, fire, EMS, search and rescue, public safety partners, and numerous local, state, and federal agencies throughout Gunnison and Hinsdale Counties. We answer approximately 56,000 calls for service each year across more than 4,400 square miles of Colorado’s high country. As a Communications Supervisor, you will serve as a working supervisor, leading Emergency Communications Specialists while remaining actively engaged in dispatch operations. You will help shape the next generation of dispatch professionals through coaching, quality assurance, training oversight, scheduling, and operational leadership. What You'll Do Supervising daily dispatch operations and ensuring efficient, professional emergency communications Leading, mentoring, and evaluating Emergency Communications Specialists Conducting quality assurance reviews and providing coaching and performance feedback Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and Communications Training Officer (CTO) program oversight Managing daily staffing and scheduling to maintain operational readiness Supporting policy development, process improvement, and operational consistency Serving as a resource during critical incidents and complex emergency calls Maintaining strong partnerships with our law enforcement, fire, EMS, and regional public safety agencies What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is passionate about public safety communications and enjoys developing people as much as solving problems. Qualified Candidates Should Have At least three years of public safety communications experience Communications Training Officer (CTO) certification Strong knowledge of law enforcement, fire, and EMS dispatch operations Excellent communication and leadership skills Experience providing coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high‑pressure situations A commitment to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and exceptional customer service Applicants must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation and meet all CJIS and agency hiring requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr APCO International
