Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Cardiac Surgery

Position Details Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH), First assist, Radial artery harvest experience strong preferred. 4 Day work weeks PAs first assist all cases No in house call Position will also cover ICU When fully staffed, weekend call is 1 in every 7 weekends Friendly, welcoming, and experienced teammates Responsibilities Clinical – Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develop appropriate differential diagnoses and implement treatment plans, including prescribing/ordering evidence‑based pharmacological agents. Conduct preventive health screening and maintain comprehensive records. Continuously improve patient care, prioritize work, maintain productivity, and perform medical procedures per departmental guidelines. Education – Educate clients/families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up. Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of care. Develop educational materials and provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and students. Attend education programs to meet learning needs. Leadership – Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students; precept, shadow, lecture, train, and participate in rounds, reports, and staff meetings. Lead community/network outreach programs and systems improvements. Professional – Interact with patients and families respectfully, courteously, and timely. Collaborate with coworkers, provide prompt customer service, accept responsibility for work outcomes, and share workload with team members. Quality/Research – Engage in continuous quality improvement, identify and implement processes for improvement. Consult with management, lead interdisciplinary teams, revise protocols, influence policy-making, and develop new clinical programs to improve patient care. Other Information Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department. DEA required. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency, effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills, effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting, and documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
