Position: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Intensive Care (IICU)

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IICU). The ideal candidate will have a solid background in critical care nursing, specifically in managing patients with high acuity needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients including those with trauma, medical, surgical, and neurological conditions.
• Monitor patients and implement medical interventions as required every 1 to 2 hours.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment and technology to support patient care.
• Respond to emergencies and manage cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmias, and telemetry functions.
• Administer medications and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as per established protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using EPIC electronic medical records.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 1 completed travel assignment.
• Previous experience in IICU or ICU with a patient-to-nurse ratio of at least 1:3 is required.
• Active SC or multistate nursing license.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Proficient in the care of ventilated patients and the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with medication management and critical care protocols.
• CPR/Basic Life Support certification must be up to date.

Work Environment

The IICU accommodates adult patients requiring intensive monitoring and care. Clinicians in this setting will use advanced patient repositioning devices, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps to enhance the quality of care provided.

Additional Information

• Weekends: 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule.
• Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs, but will only occur in areas where staff are qualified.
• Orientation and ongoing training will be provided to ensure compliance and enhance competency in the unit. Modules are expected to be completed within specified timelines.
