Reporting to the Electrical/Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician II performs all duties of the Electrician I and demonstrates the ability to independently install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs, and basic PLC-controlled equipment with minimal supervision. This role provides technical support for plant operations through intermediate diagnostic and repair capabilities while ensuring compliance with safety, electrical, and food safety standards. Your Contribution to Excellence Performs electrical installation, maintenance, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting activities with minimal supervision in accordance with standard electrical practices and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Prepares sketches and layouts identifying wiring routes, conduit runs, junction points, and equipment modifications to support installation and repair projects. Independently measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit systems, including EMT, RMC, PVC-coated, and PVC conduit. Installs, terminates, and modifies electrical wiring, control circuits, and power distribution components using appropriate methods and industry standards. Performs intermediate troubleshooting of electrical systems, including motor controls, safety circuits, sensors, control devices, and system parameter validation. Repairs and replaces electrical and mechanical components, including gearboxes, electric motor bearings, motors, relays, switches, and circuit protection devices. Installs, configures, and maintains motor control applications, including variable frequency drives (VFDs) and associated control components. Performs intermediate circuit analysis and diagnostics, including troubleshooting basic PID control loops and control system functionality. Tests and evaluates electrical equipment using diagnostic instruments such as meggers, multimeters, amp meters, and other electrical testing devices. Performs basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of PLC-controlled equipment, including discrete and analog input/output devices, sensors, and related components. Installs and maintains control and distribution equipment, including relays, switches, motor starters, and circuit breaker panels. Demonstrates basic welding proficiency (MIG and Stick) to support maintenance and fabrication activities. Monitors equipment performance and operating conditions to identify hazards, malfunctions, or improvement opportunities and elevate issues as appropriate. Repairs defective equipment and systems to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment while meeting established productivity and efficiency expectations. Communicates effectively with team members, contractors, and supervisors and actively participates in identifying and reporting safety hazards. Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety requirements; promptly reports any food safety, environmental, social compliance, or quality concerns; demonstrates flexibility to meet operational needs, including overtime and shift changes; and performs other duties as assigned. What you Bring to the Table: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an electrician in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, preventive maintenance practices, and electrical troubleshooting techniques. Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, technical drawings, operating manuals, and written work instructions. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard electrical safety practices. Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize work, and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional departments. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical equipment, control circuits, sensors, and basic PLC- controlled systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, food safety, and GMP standards. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and alternate shifts as operational needs require. Preferred: Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent electrical certification. Preferred: Demonstrated proficiency in electrical safety procedures, PLC troubleshooting, VFD configuration, and industrial motor control applications. The Setting for Your Success This position requires consistent physical activity in a manufacturing and agricultural environment. Employees are required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8+ hours per day), with frequent movement throughout the facility, including production, cannery, and outdoor farm areas. The role involves frequent use of the hands and arms for tool operation, fine manipulation, and pushing or pulling equipment components, with reaching required both above and below shoulder level. Employees must perform frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting to inspect, repair, and maintain equipment.
