Technical Writer

Role Overview

Create rigorous, real-world technical evaluation materials that help advance next-generation AI systems. This remote independent contractor role focuses on translating domain expertise into realistic assignments, source materials, solution criteria, and detailed scoring standards. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and write expert-level evaluation tasks using realistic technical data, including CSVs, PDFs, spreadsheets, and technical documents.
• Create and curate source materials such as product specifications, code samples, subject matter expert interview notes, and regulatory documentation.
• Define expected outputs and solution criteria for technical problem-solving assignments.
• Develop comprehensive grading rubrics with 35 or more criteria covering accuracy, precision, testability, and audience alignment.
• Produce documentation assignments such as API references, user guides, and compliance documents that reflect authentic industry challenges.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads to refine deliverables and align work with benchmark objectives.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 or more years of experience, supported by a portfolio in software, hardware, medical devices, or regulated industries.
• Strong technical writing, precision writing, source synthesis, and audience-calibration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to create precise, testable technical documentation and instructions.
• Advanced structured-authoring skills, style-guide adherence, and proficiency with documentation toolchains.
• Exceptional written English, including control of tone and technical register for varied audiences.
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills for turning complex source material into clear guidance.
• Experience defining acceptance criteria and rubrics for technical assignments.
• Familiarity with technical-domain benchmarking or evaluation methodologies is preferred.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. Time required may vary by experience and workflow.
• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a required minimum number of task submissions each week.
• Roles are typically filled within 48 hours. Selected candidates should be ready to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing the required onboarding steps.

Compensation

Advertised pay range: $30 to $60 per hour.
