Materials Specialist, Expeditor

Job Description Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, is recruiting a 1st Shift Materialist Specialist, Expeditor for our City of Industry, California location. The role focuses on ensuring on‑time delivery of customer orders and maintaining production schedules by managing the flow of materials, components, inventory, and paperwork across internal departments such as Production, Quality, Shipping, and Purchasing. Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for internal inquiries related to customer‑critical parts. Coordinate with Production, Quality, Shipping, and Purchasing to remove roadblocks and maintain workflow. Expedite production plans and job orders throughout the factory for assigned value streams. Track critical orders from start to finish, confirm shipment, and update stakeholders on status. Review monthly production plans to identify potential delays and communicate risks to Planning and Production Management. Follow up on special requests and support operations in locating jobs for planners. Perform aging WIP cycle counts and monitor aging work in progress. Distribute inventory and load parts for production team members to ensure maximum productivity. Coordinate with production leads and supervisors to monitor daily production goals. Track milestone production jobs, monitoring hourly progress as needed. Status products through all stages of production, ensuring urgency is clearly understood. Receive and action specific expediting requests; regularly review outstanding requirements of customers, production, and sales. Assist Shipping in packaging of product. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 1–2 years of expeditor experience in the aerospace industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer savvy and ability to learn proprietary software programs. Ability to meet deadlines quickly and accurately, multi‑task, and work well under pressure with changing priorities. Proficient in reading and interpreting documents in English such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to complete routine documentation. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ERP systems and Oracle. Forklift operating experience.
