Registered Nurse (RN) | Surgical Renal Unit

Location & Shift Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Work Type: Regular Shift: Day Shift (7am‑7pm; 72hrs/2wks) Pay & Sign‑On Bonus Pay Range: $32.50 – $48.50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $20,000 (subject to approval). Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends. Supports patient understanding of conditions, medications and self‑care skills; monitors changing conditions and re‑evaluates care objectives. Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team, coordinating with other healthcare providers, and offering physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting patient physical condition, psychological status and influencing social factors, and conferring with family and friends. Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals and instructing patients, families and friends to understand condition, medications and self‑care skills; answers questions and provides information and resources. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions and re‑evaluating care objectives and modifying the care plan. Maintains a safe, secure and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organization standards and legal regulations, and by alerting others regarding potential concerns. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records; keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs. Keeps patient supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt and stocking items. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of practice. Able to work the hours specified and perform each essential job function including visual acuity, effective communication, hearing and speech understanding, and the ability to distinguish sounds. Preferred Qualifications 1–3 years experience working in a clinical environment.
