Division Chief - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Phoenix, Arizona

Position Summary Phoenix Children’s is seeking a pediatric physiatrist to lead the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) within Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s. The Division Chief will oversee clinical, educational, and research activities and provide comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients with neuromuscular, congenital, and trauma-related conditions. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide expert clinical care to pediatric patients with physical disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, congenital conditions, and injuries. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating medical interventions, therapies, and rehabilitation techniques. Collaborate with pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and therapists for multidisciplinary care. Administrative and Financial Leadership Lead daily operations, resource allocation, growth, and quality improvement initiatives of the PM&R division. Recruit, hire, and mentor physicians, therapists, nurses, and support staff. Develop and manage the division’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial goals. Education and Training Develop and implement training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric PM&R. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the division. Research and Innovation Engage in clinical research and contribute to advancing pediatric PM&R through publications, presentations, and conferences. Collaborate with research teams to identify opportunities for improving treatment outcomes and patient experiences. Collaboration and Networking Collaborate with other departments, healthcare institutions, and community organizations to enhance patient care and outreach. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support division goals. Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Establish and monitor quality metrics to ensure safe, effective, and patient‑centered care. Implement evidence‑based practices and protocols to enhance outcomes and safety. Position Duties Provide patient care services on inpatient and outpatient basis, including consultations, follow‑ups, and diagnostic procedures. Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and develop division‑specific targets. Develop and administer the division budget, quality metrics, and staff goal plans. Supervise trainees and allied health professionals; conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences. Represent Phoenix Children’s in medical and business communities and promote a safe, professional healthcare environment. Respond to after‑hours or night call responsibilities as required. Qualifications MD or DO with board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; preference for sub‑specialization in Pediatric PM&R. Eligibility for medical licensure in the jurisdiction of practice. Proven clinical expertise in pediatric PM&R with a strong record of patient care and outcomes. Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical or academic setting. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
