Senior Imaging Technologist (M-Th 2130-0800) CT/DX- Radiology Downtown Campus

The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus intends to hire for two positions at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus Department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist or an Imaging Technologist to work with physicians in the diagnosis of patients by performing technical radiographic and fluoroscopic, computerized tomographic, and diagnostic radiologic.

Additional duties include: assisting physicians with imaging procedures, completing continuing education to maintain Permit to Practice and ARRT registry, interviewing patients and recording appropriate clinical history relative to CT and diagnostic procedures, introducing self, calling the guests by name, explaining the examination to the patient, providing care and protection of patients during procedures, assuming care for the emotional, psychological and physical needs, while adhering to TJC Patient Safety Goals, maintaining equipment in the work area and reporting down time to the appropriate personnel, identifying, accessing and preparing medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, preparing and assisting with or administering materials, including opaque media, contrast media and barium, while adhering to patient safety goals, preparing patients for extensive CT and diagnostic radiologic procedures by determining technical factors and procedures appropriate for patient's age, processing films and scheduling examinations properly, operating radiographic CT and diagnostic imaging equipment within the department, practicing appropriate radiation protection and safety, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Percent of Time: 100% Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:30pm-8:00am, rotating holidays and occasional weekends. Pay Grade: 5 The department will be filling this position at one of two levels. The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4, and the Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5. Qualifications: Experience Requirements Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.

Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist) Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
