As an Special Assistant, you will serve as an expert authority to the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Office on the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and its related nationwide regulations and policies. Responsibilities Advises and provides technical guidance on immigration issues and elements of complex and sensitive national programs and projects essential to OPS mission. Uses technical knowledge and policy-related expertise to manage, oversee, and execute complex special projects and assignments relating to the management, policies, and operations of USCIS and OPS. Conducts critical reviews of proposed legislation, policy, regulations, and directives requiring extensive interpretation for many different program processes. Liaises with the Office’s divisions and other directorates and offices within USCIS, DHS, and the interagency to support the policy development and implementation process. Makes strategic recommendations which serve as the basis for substantive changes in the organization and administration of programs affecting large numbers of people. Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
