HOURLY RATE: $27.00-$30.00

WEEKLY HOURS: 35 hours

WHO WE ARE
Center for Family Life in Sunset Park (CFL) (), is a nationally recognized social service organization. CFL's mission is to promote positive outcomes for children and adults in Sunset Park, Brooklyn by providing a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services.

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Childcare Specialist will assist with a grant-funded project to connect families in Brooklyn to childcare assistance.

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with agency staff and community service providers to identify families in need of childcare assistance
• Screen families for eligibility utilizing a standardized tool and complete applications
• Enroll childcare providers in program and assist them to enroll children
• Build knowledge/expertise of the NYC childcare landscape in Brooklyn to assist families to connect with childcare as needed
• Determine appropriate childcare type and setting to meet family’s eligibility and needs
• Conduct yearly recertifications for continuing eligibility and enrollment
• Utilize excellent communication skills to engage families and childcare providers, trouble-shoot, and assist them with successfully using assistance
• Conduct visits to childcare providers
• Provide information or referral for childcare for families who are not deemed eligible for assistance through the project
• Refer all families to CFLSP Benefits Access & Enrollment team, and to other CFLSP programs and resources as needed
• Collaborate with program director and fiscal department to track and distribute funds
• Track childcare enrollment and recertification
• Maintain project data
• Create and maintain case records for each family and provider
• Attend meetings with project team, funder and stakeholders
• Participate in advocacy efforts as requested
• Other duties as assigned

II. QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree or high school with relevant experience; bachelor’s degree preferred
• Bilingual: English/Spanish required
• Excellent telephone and email etiquette
• Proficient in data entry and MS Office tools: Word and Excel
• Experience in community engagement or other forms of direct service
• Knowledge of NYC childcare landscape or willingness to learn
• Demonstrated cultural competence with immigrant communities
• Friendly, highly dependable, organized and flexible

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work requires being in an office on-site, sitting at a desk, and using a computer and telephone
• Some travel required to engage with families, childcare providers and community service providers, and to attend advocacy related events
• Flexibility to work occasional evening hours to accommodate families’ availability.
• Attend various meetings with internal departments and external stakeholders
