• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,560–$2,700
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. nights
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; night-shift weekends are Friday and Saturday
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Patient Population: Adult cardiac, vascular, postoperative, and critically ill patients
• Charting System: Epic
• Level of Care: Acute care, Level I trauma setting

CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent CVICU or cardiovascular critical care nursing experience; 3–5 years is strongly preferred
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license, or confirmation that the Illinois RN licensing process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification preferred
• CCRN certification is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to independently care for high-acuity cardiovascular patients in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, patient assessment, critical-thinking, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to titrate vasoactive, sedative, analgesic, anticoagulant, and other critical-care infusions according to orders and protocols
• Comfort caring for ventilated patients and managing advanced cardiovascular support equipment
• Flexibility to float to other levels of care and accept a full patient assignment when required

Travel CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients recovering from CABG, valve procedures, dissections, AAA and vascular procedures, carotid procedures, TAVRs, and other cardiovascular interventions
• Care for patients experiencing STEMI, unstable angina, non-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure, and other critical cardiac conditions
• Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, CPAP, BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, nitric oxide, and targeted temperature management
• Monitor and care for patients with IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, temporary transcutaneous or transvenous pacemakers, CRRT, arterial lines, central venous catheters, PICC lines, and midlines
• Interpret Philips cardiac monitoring and telemetry strips and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Titrate medications such as vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, insulin, heparin, and antihypertensive infusions in accordance with established protocols and provider orders
• Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Collaborate with critical care providers, advanced practice clinicians, respiratory therapists, monitor technicians, patient care technicians, and the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate Epic documentation and communicate effectively during handoffs and changes in patient status
• Promote patient safety, compassionate care, evidence-based practice, and adherence to ICU protocols
