Job Title: Teacher of the Dear and Hard of Hearing (TDHH)Location: State-Wide - MUST BE A COLORADO RESIDENTFLSA Status: ExemptReports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services Work Hours/Days: Full-Time or Part-Time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations will be aligned with FTE assignment in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines.Wage: $55,000-80,000 Annually.. Compensation will be prorated based on FTE assignment.Benefits: Benefit eligibility is based on FTE status. Employees working 30 hours or greater per week are eligible for full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid leave. We are committedto providing a supportive and collaborative work environment that fosters growth and professionalDevelopment.Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing(TDHH)Job FunctionThe Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) advances inclusive, accessible, anddata‑driven instructional services by partnering with school leaders, special education teachers,related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure students with hearing lossreceive high‑quality, compliant educational programming. This role strengthens MTSS/RTIframeworks, trauma‑informed practices, and SEL‑aligned communication supports by designingand implementing accessible instruction, auditory skill development, andcommunication‑mode‑aligned strategies. The TDHH provides assessment, consultation, anddirect instruction to address academic, auditory, language, and self‑advocacy needs forstudents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Through collaborative team facilitation, capacitybuilding, and culturally responsive problem‑solving, the TDHH empowers educators and familiesto support communication access, independence, and engagement for students with disabilities,including those served through 504, Gifted, and Multi‑Lingual Learner pathways. The TDHH is akey member of multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams, with some remote consultation andservice delivery.Core ResponsibilitiesInstruction & InterventionProvide direct instruction aligned to communication mode (spoken language, ASL, totalcommunication, cued speech, etc.).Support auditory skill development, listening comprehension, and language acquisition.Adapt curriculum materials to ensure communication access.Assessment & Progress MonitoringConduct functional listening assessments and communication evaluations.Collect data aligned to IEP goals and document progress.Recommend accommodations, modifications, and assistive listening technology.Collaboration & ConsultationPartner with teachers to ensure accessible instruction and classroom communication.Collaborate with audiologists, SLPs, and interpreters.Train staff on hearing technology, communication strategies, and inclusive practices.Family & Team EngagementCommunicate regularly with families regarding progress and communication strategies.Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations.Provide resources to support communication access at home.QualificationsBachelor 's or Master's degree in Special Education with endorsement in Deaf/Hard ofHearing.State licensure as a TDHH.Experience with hearing assistive technology and communication‑mode‑ alignedinstruction.Strong collaboration, communication, and accessibility‑focused instructional skills.Work Environment & Physical DemandsMovement between classrooms, campuses, and community settings.Frequent use of hearing assistive technology and communication tools.Engagement in both quiet and noisy environments depending on student needs.Optional Remote/Tele‑SupportVirtual instruction aligned to communication mode.Remote consultation with teachers, interpreters, and families.Participation in virtual IEP meetings and progress reviews.
