Director of Operations

We are looking for a Director of Operations for a privately held aerospace and defense manufacturer in Simsbury, CT . This role will lead a flagship manufacturing operation with full accountability across safety, quality, delivery, cost, people leadership, and operational excellence. Job Logistics Location: Simsbury, CT Work Model: Onsite Travel: Minimal Day to Day Lead manufacturing operations across a complex production environment Drive performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives Establish and strengthen operational processes, metrics, and accountability systems Improve throughput, efficiency, schedule attainment, and overall operational performance Develop and mentor leaders while building a strong leadership pipeline Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other key functions Support strategic initiatives, business growth, and long-term operational excellence Requirements Experience leading a full manufacturing site or large operations organization Proven accountability for operational performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost Experience driving continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives Strong people leadership, team development, and organizational leadership experience Business and financial acumen, including budgeting, cost management, capital planning, or P&L responsibility Experience operating within complex or highly regulated manufacturing environments Ability to partner effectively across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other key business functions Aerospace and/or defense manufacturing experience Multi-site leadership or oversight experience Plusses Executive leadership exposure Experience building leadership pipelines and succession plans Compensation: Base$215,000 to $260,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
