Comptroller - Program Specialist IV ( Internal to the General Claims Section ONLY)

About the Division The Unclaimed Property Division administers the state’s unclaimed property program, processes property reports, assists claimants, verifies and processes claims, and manages outreach efforts including posting properties on online databases. In this role you will: Review, edit, and determine the validity of unclaimed property claims. Process claims by reviewing documentation and following established procedures and checklists. Respond to email, letter, and telephone inquiries from claimants; research and generate claims based on written correspondence and telephone inquiries. Process, examine, edit, and update claimant stock accounts; document actions; and monitor accounts for completion of subsequent actions. Identify system problems. Learn and apply knowledge to progressively more critical and complex claims; keep supervisor informed of significant problems or errors and their causes; recommend appropriate solutions. Represent the section/division in meetings; provide requested written information clearly and concisely; assist in the development of procedures and, when appropriate, training. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Four years of customer service experience. Two years of experience responding to customer telephone and email inquiries. Three years performing highly complex (senior level) accounts examination, claims processing, research, or analytical work. Preferred Requirements Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or marketing. Experience working in an environment with a high volume of incoming customer inquiries. Experience working in a call center. Experience reviewing probate, business, legal, or regulatory documents. Communicating effectively in writing and verbally in Spanish. Additional Requirements One additional year of full‑time experience providing customer service and responding to customer telephone and email inquiries may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education, with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
