VMG is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center, Department of Transfusion Medicine, Infectious Diseases Section. This position supports critical laboratory operations through molecular diagnostics, serology testing, specimen processing, quality assurance activities, laboratory instrumentation, and scientific data management. The ideal candidate will work independently in a fast‑paced clinical laboratory while collaborating with scientists, laboratory personnel, and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate, timely, and high‑quality diagnostic testing that supports patient care and biomedical research. Key Responsibilities Perform molecular diagnostic testing, including DNA/RNA purification, quantitation, and real‑time PCR using automated laboratory instrumentation Perform automated serology testing for infectious diseases utilizing laboratory analyzers Accession, process, and perform moderate‑to‑high‑complexity laboratory testing on clinical specimens Analyze laboratory data and verify the accuracy, reliability, and validity of test results Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation Perform quality control activities and maintain laboratory documentation Monitor reagent inventory and laboratory supplies Utilize laboratory information systems to collect, organize, analyze, and report scientific data Ensure compliance with NIH laboratory safety policies, quality assurance standards, and accreditation requirements Collaborate with laboratory staff to support daily laboratory operations and continuous process improvement Required Qualifications Master's degree in Biology or a related scientific discipline Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program in laboratory science Experience performing molecular diagnostic testing and serology testing Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Preferred Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory BS MT (CLS) certification or equivalent certification Experience operating COBAS AmpliPrep/TaqMan, COBAS 6800, Ortho 3600, or similar automated laboratory platforms Experience supporting NIH or other federal clinical laboratory programs Experience working in an accredited clinical laboratory environment Work Environment Full‑time position (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday schedule Rotational shifts as required Telework is not available Clinical laboratory environment located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland Requires the use of laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, face shields, and laboratory coats Position involves handling human blood and clinical specimens in accordance with established laboratory safety protocols #J-18808-Ljbffr Veritas Management Group
