How You’ll Make an Impact:

The Accounting Specialist supports the Controller in managing RTCA’s accounting, finance, and administrative functions with integrity, confidence, and focus. This role handles day-to-day and month-end accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll review, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, while helping maintain the accuracy of data in our ERP system. Working closely with the accounting team and partnering with other departments on cost accounting, inventory valuation, and project cost tracking, the Accounting Specialist helps ensure strong cost control in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. Success in this role requires a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous process improvement.

What you’ll be doing as an Accounting Specialist:

• Working a hybrid position at our Simi Valley, CA location.
• Perform daily and monthly accounting close activities, including reconciling bank statements, preparing and posting journal entries, completing general ledger reconciliations, and generating accurate financial reports to ensure the integrity of period-end results.
• Assist the accounting team in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
• Review and back up accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
• Support the transition of accounts payable processes from paper-based to paperless workflows.
• Verify the accuracy of data entered into the ERP system and perform general ledger reviews.
• Create and distribute variance analysis metrics.
• Review, process, and audit Ramp credit card transactions in accordance with the company’s Travel and Expense Reimbursement Policy.
• Prepare annual 1099 filing data for third-party service providers, including obtaining and maintaining vendor W-9 forms on an ongoing basis.
• Track inventory cycle counts and ensure they are performed at each respective inventory area.
• Perform fixed asset cycle counts to ensure additions and disposals are accurately recorded.
• Coordinate with other departments on cost accounting, inventory valuation, and project cost tracking, and oversee small projects in support of cost control.
• Provide direct support to the accounting team on special projects, proposal research, and problem solving.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
• Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency, reporting, and the flow of information.
• Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws established by the company and by state and federal authorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions, concentrate for extended periods, and manage multiple interruptions throughout the day.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and able to build positive working relationships with co-workers across departments.
• Team player with a can-do attitude.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

The Accounting Specialist Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $85-90k annually commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.}
