Part Time Faculty Pool- Counseling

Position Summary Seattle Central College Counseling Department is hiring part‑time faculty to teach Human Development Course 101 (HDC 101): Orientation to College Success. The role is for a 5‑credit single‑class workload per quarter, with a salary range of $7,703 – $11,537.33 (A1‑E7) and a target starting rate of $7,703 – $8,912 (A1‑C3). This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with AFT‑Seattle. Responsibilities Demonstrate ability and commitment to teach the Counseling Department's Human Development Course (HDC 101) on College Success Skills Participate in opportunities for collaborative curriculum adaptation Complete institutional progress surveys, utilize Starfish retention tools, and proactively outreach to students to encourage engagement and success Attend human development course training and participate in FYE teaching community Follow established course outlines Maintain and follow standard course syllabus and Canvas shell, generate lesson plans, and assess learning of course objectives developed by faculty counselors Provide timely feedback to students, maintain accurate records, submit course evaluations, and follow Seattle Central College academic guidelines Perform other duties as required Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited institution Experience teaching evidence based academic success strategies or other college success topics Demonstrated commitment to helping diverse students from traditionally underserved populations progress toward their academic goals Experience developing, implementing, evaluating and adjusting curriculum to increase student retention and academic completion Experience using technology, collaborative learning, or other innovative teaching methods Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting Coursework or professional practice in learning theory including academic skill development, lifespan psychology, meta‑cognition, diversity and ethics, career development, or related topics Background in mental health, counseling, social‑emotional learning theory, human development theory, or lifespan development is beneficial, especially in supporting students holistic development, resilience, and academic success To teach the Umoja sections, candidates should have attended the Umoja Learning Institute To teach the AANAPISI sections, candidates should have knowledge and familiarity working with Asian Pacific Islander communities Physical Demands and Disability Accommodation Persons with disabilities have the right to reasonable accommodation in all aspects of employment with Seattle Colleges.
