Job Summary


Our client is seeking a Data Entry Pharmacy Technician who will be responsible for accurately entering prescription or medication orders into a pharmacy computer system to ensure safe dispensing and proper billing. The role supports pharmacists and helps maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.


Key Responsibilities

• Enter new prescription orders into pharmacy software systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
• Accurately input drug name, strength, dosage form, directions (SIG), quantity and refills, and prescriber information.
• Verify patient demographics and allergies.
• Resolve insurance and billing information.
• Identify incomplete or unclear prescriptions.
• Communicate with prescribers' offices for clarification.
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
• Route completed entries to pharmacist for verification.
• Document interventions and notes when required.

Qualifications

• Strong data entry accuracy.
• Knowledge of pharmacy abbreviations (SIG codes).
• Familiarity with brand and generic medications.
• Understanding of insurance processing.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.

Experience

• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.

Skills

• Basic computer proficiency and typing skills.

Additional Requirements

• Pharmacy Technician Texas state license - Active and in good standing.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification.
