Bartender Position at Mekiko Cantina

As Hawaii's first Fresh Mexican Restaurant, Mekiko Cantina, our passion brings tastes of Mexico to our local and visiting guests. Mekiko Cantina is a 4th generation "start-up" Mexican Restaurant with a vision for growth.

If you are excited about our mission and passionate about our values, we seek experienced bartenders for our Kapolei, Oahu restaurant. Preferably, you are a current Oahu or Hawaii resident and have 3 or more years of bar experience locally.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide the highest level of quality and service for our guests. Prepare beverages for guests.

Essential Duties:

• Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
• Inform customers about new beverages and specials.
• Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
• Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Developing new cocktail recipes.
• Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position.

Other Duties:

• Supports and works productively with peers in other areas.
• Performs housekeeping and other related duties as required.
• Any other tasks assigned by management.

Working Conditions:

Indoors, air-conditioned.

Communication - Ability to communicate by speaking, effectively and clearly with guests, coworkers, and management. Ability to actively listen and understand the comments and questions of others. Response to direction - Receive and follow directions from supervisors; follow direction of computer-generated tickets. Requires considerable walking and standing for the majority of duties, frequent kneeling, bending, stretching, lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds supplies, Requires oral and verbal communication with co-workers and supervisors to coordinate efforts, request needed help or supplies, and read and understand labels on cleaning solutions and other duties. Requires following simple, on-the-job assignments as instructed by authorized personnel.

Education/Experience:

• Additional education, training, certificates, or experience may be required.
• Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
• High school diploma desired.

Work Hours: Normally 40 hours on a rotating schedule or shifts, including Saturday, Sundays, and holidays.
