Overview The Criminal Investigation Division of the West Virginia Department of Revenue seeks an Investigator to conduct investigations of tax violations and fraud under general supervision. The role involves field-based investigative work across multiple counties, including inspections, interviews, evidence gathering, and court testimony related to various state tax statutes. This is a full-time permanent position with flexible shift schedules and on-call status, requiring a valid driver's license and suitable home office space with high-speed internet. Responsibilities Conduct field-based investigations of tax violations and fraud under general supervision across multiple counties. Perform inspections, interviews, evidence gathering, and maintain thorough case documentation. Provide testimony in court related to findings and statutes. Collaborate with law enforcement, legal staff, and other agencies as needed; operate in a professional and confidential manner. Manage on-call duties and adapt to flexible shift schedules. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or one year of experience for every thirty semester hours substituted. One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in law enforcement, investigative work, or eligibility determination. Valid driver's license and availability of an automobile required. Qualification to possess and use firearms may be required.
