Life Insurance Claims Examiner

salary: $26 - $27 per hour

Responsibilities

• Review and process living life insurance claims
• Investigate claims
• Evaluate investigation results and authorize payments
• Summarize, when necessary, to substantiate reason for payment or denial of claim
• Monitor the course of claims' investigations and utilize multiple resources and databases to reach claim decisions
• Document claims decisions
• Identify problems and all relevant issues in straightforward situations; assessing each using standard procedures to make sound decisions
• Adjudicate payments in compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable law; engaging legal, medical, and investigative resources as necessary
• Maintain accurate and complete payment record to improve the customer experience
• Manage a high volume of claims while maintaining established turnaround performance guarantees
• Assist with the handling of unit telephone calls and provide information regarding claim status, policy provisions and exclusions
