Senior Analyst, Carlyle AlpInvest Fund Accounting Processes

The Senior Analyst supports Fund Accounting operations for the AlpInvest fund segment; aligned with the Fund Accounting Finance Process & Operations (FPO) team but dedicated to AlpInvest’s investor base, fund structures, and reporting requirements. The role owns daily execution and production support of core workflows, investor capital account statements, quarterly reporting needs, and Capital Calls & Distributions, while driving process improvement specific to AlpInvest operations. Because AlpInvest stakeholders are primarily based in Europe, the role demands a proactive, urgency-driven approach: triaging requests early each business day and maintaining clear visibility into open items so stakeholders receive timely responses across the transatlantic gap. Working across AlpInvest end users, Global Technology Services (GTS), and cross-functional teams, the Senior Analyst serves as business/technology liaison, translating business needs into structured requirements and flagging production issues and dependencies before they escalates. Success requires strong planning, prioritization across concurrent workstreams, and sound judgment under pressure. The position reports to the Fund Accounting Processes Manager. Responsibilities Fund Accounting & Investor Financial Reporting (30%) Support operation of Fund Accounting systems and quarterly reporting workflows for AlpInvest funds, ensuring accuracy and timely issue resolution Triage incoming support requests from AlpInvest’s European teams with urgency, accounting for time zone differences and proactively communicating timelines, status, and resolutions Functional Support & Stakeholder Communication (40%) Serve as a subject matter expert in Fund and Investor Reporting for AlpInvest, liaising between Fund Accounting and GTS to translate business needs into structured requirements Manage and enhance Investran and Appian BPM applications Serve as a key contact for stakeholders and respond to requests with urgency and escalates risks and issues with proposed solutions Finance Process & Systems Improvement - AlpInvest (30%) Drive initiatives to streamline, automate, and modernize Finance operations Identify process gaps and automation opportunities, recommending solutions that weigh risk and business impact while balancing diverse stakeholder priorities against shared goals Support change management through training, documentation, and communications that drive adoption Requirements Education & Certificates Bachelor’s degree required Professional Experience 3+ years of overall relevant experience, required Experience in fund accounting, finance operations, or a related business systems/process improvement role, preferred Production or operational support experience in a finance environment Experience supporting development teams in an agile environment, bridging business and technical contexts and writing requirements, functional specs, or process documentationExperience engaging stakeholders across departments and seniority levels on process improvement or technology initiatives Background in private equity, fund-of-funds, or multi-manager alternative investment operations strongly preferred Accounting systems experience required, with Investran strongly preferred Familiarity with Appian BPM, Salesforce, or PeopleSoft Financials a plus Advanced Excel skills preferred Familiarity with Jira or similar agile project management tools Understanding of fund accounting principles, investor reporting, and financial close processes Strong risk awareness and organizational skills, identifying risks early, managing competing priorities, and connecting daily work to broader goals; able to handle time‑sensitive cross‑time‑zone requests with professionalism and urgency Exceptional written and verbal communication, translating business needs into clear requirements and tailoring messaging for finance, technology, and leadership audiences The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $120,000.
