Job Title Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description Compensation: Minimum $15.50/hour; depends on experience and years of certification Qualifications: Attend all required Green House Education, including CORE and Communication for Success Ability to read and comprehend simple directions. Must use understanding, compassion, patience, tact and maturity in dealing with the elders, families and visitors. Graduate of an approved CNA program and holds a current Louisiana State CNA certification. Previous experience in geriatrics and/or long-term care preferred. Must have the physical strength required to lift 50 lbs. or more with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 25 lbs. or more. Must be able to push, pull and/or continuously stand and walk routinely. Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch. Stooping requires bending the body forward and downward by bending the spine at the waist. Kneeling requires bending the knees and resting one's weight upon the knees. Crouching requires bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine. Job Specific Duties: Recognize and respond to the needs of Elders Promote autonomy of Elders in decision-making Maintain confidentiality and privacy of Elder care, procedures, and documentation Communicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of Elders Meet with the Nurse and CSTMs as scheduled or needed to discuss Elders' needs and progress in identifying and correcting problems Observe, monitor, and report to the Nurse any change in condition Document observed data per organization policy Assist Elders with personal care functions, including: Dental and mouth care Bathing Dressing and grooming Hair care Nail care Shaving Bowel and bladder care Other personal and hygiene care Assist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and anatomical dimension/circumference Assist moving, positioning and transporting Elders into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. Maintain a manual-lift free environment by utilizing the lift systems provided in the houses Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc. Provide range of motion exercises as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training Prepare and serve meals, between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks per the posted menu and the stated preferences of the Elders Observe standard precautions per organizational policy Keep all areas of the home clean, performing routine housekeeping duties Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linens Launder clothing, linen, and other articles Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor, and intervene in or report to the Guide any unsafe conditions. Assure Elder calls for assistance are answered promptly Report accidents and incidents when they occur Report any abuse or suspected abuse to the Guide and/or Administrator immediately Follow established smoking regulations and report violations Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training, and educational classes Perform other related duties as required by the Elder Seek counsel and assistance with problem solving from the Guide Assume Coordinator Roles (Team, Food, Housekeeping, Scheduling, Care), rotating positions at pre-determined intervals (See Care Partner Coordinator Roles) Attend Team meetings Complete Quality Assurance Checklists and report on work and any identified areas of concern related to your accountabilities at Team meetings Work with SMWT to solve any unresolved household problems The SMWT makes decision by consensus Attend and participate in Elder Care Conferences providing observations, achievements and concerns about Elder in your care Work with the CST to problem solve issues, such as preventing Elder falls Participate in peer evaluations of co-workers Involved in interviewing and hiring new Care Partners, providing feedback to Guide, who makes the final hiring decision Education Preferred: High School or better. Experience Preferred: 1 year: Previous experience in geriatrics and/or long-term care preferred.
