CNC Operator IV

CNC Operator level IV – 1st Shift (Fullerton, CA). Responsibilities Operates and maintains standard or specialized production machines (tappers, drillers, crimp and presses). Operates CNC controlled machine tools to perform programmed operations and make minor adjustments to process or machines after tasks are assigned. Selects and sets proper tooling as identified on the tool layout to correspond with program. Sets up using tooling fixtures and indicating target diameters, hole alignments, or spindle run‑out. Loads and proves out program, runs and self‑inspects first article samples, and adjusts set‑up as necessary to conform to dimensions and tolerances. Completes all necessary documentation for each set‑up (S.P.C. charts, set‑up checklist, first article verification, etc.). Runs, monitors, and troubleshoots equipment in production, adjusting set‑up as necessary. Monitors tool life and dimensional characteristics, replenishing tooling as directed. Monitors process using S.P.C. techniques. Handles parts up to 30 pounds. Reads blueprints and uses measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers, dial indicators) as needed. Keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly, and performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required. Qualifications Minimum three years of machine shop experience, including CNC, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions. Understanding of cutting tools (offset and geometry) and knowledge of “G” and “M” codes. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Willing to cross‑train and assist other departments. Proficient using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators, gauges). Good communication skills. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship not available. Physical Demands Lift/move up to 30 lbs. Stand for long periods. Reach above and below, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend. Wear safety steel‑toe shoes and walk shop floor as needed. Remove dangling jewelry, wear hearing protection as required. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Understanding of 5S principles. SPC knowledge.
