Job Summary

Deliver exceptional healthcare services by performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and related procedures to produce detailed sectional anatomic images.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct MRI procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the imaging protocol and is properly documented for licensed practitioners.
• Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results, foster cooperation, and reduce anxiety.
• Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists.
• Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the anatomical area of interest.
• Apply magnet safety principles to protect patients, self, and others from hazards.
• Assist licensed physicians during procedures and verify all necessary documentation.
• Address both physical and psychological patient needs throughout the imaging process.
• Perform venipunctures and administer contrast media as prescribed, while maintaining equipment and safety standards.
• Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and produce properly identified hard copy records.
• Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed.
• Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures in a compassionate manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, restock supplies, and report equipment malfunctions.
• Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals, and participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with sterile techniques, anatomical recognition via imaging systems, and hospital policies.
• Record patient histories and relevant information accurately in electronic systems.
• Manage imaging media release requests appropriately.
• Participate in on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular hours as needed.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.
• Proven experience as a radiographer with knowledge to successfully perform MRI procedures and maintain ongoing education in cross-sectional anatomy.
• Computer proficiency.

Licensure and Certifications

• State certification as required.
• Registered Technologist (R.T.(R)) credential from ARRT or equivalent.
• ARRT certification as R.T.(MR) at hire or within two years of employment.

Work Environment

Night shift position in a healthcare facility located in the Midwest region of the United States, offering part-time hours totaling 32 per week.
