Summary of Job Duties:

The Associate Director works with the Director in running the daily operations of the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program and establishing longer-range planning. This involves working closely with students, faculty, alumni, and a range of academic and non-academic units across campus. In the small community of Donaghey Scholars, the associate director serves as a mentor and resource for the students. Assist students by partnering with other campus units, such as Financial Aid, Housing, and Student Accounts to solve non-academic issues. Work with Director and units across campus, work in recruitment, admissions, student orientation, and advising. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

• Master’s Degree
• One year of professional experience working in higher education

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Experience with honors or other high achieving students
• Experience with interdisciplinary education
• A terminal graduate degree, such as a PhD or MFA

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach a one-credit professionalization and final project colloquium
• Act as the liaison to the alumni board in event planning and alumni engagement
• Oversee students’ final project procedures
• Maintain a database on Scholars’ status and progress through the program
• Work with Housing to coordinate housing for Scholars living in designated Donaghey floors of residence halls
• Provide guidance and oversight to students regarding study abroad

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to act independently and as part of a team
• Ability to identify and evaluate problems, and devise solutions
• Comfortable with making presentations and engaging with the public
• Comfortable with social media and conventional office technology and software
