Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our Brainerd Dental Clinic for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Dental Assistant. The Brainerd Dental Clinic provides patient-centered care to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or severe and persistent mental illness. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, we are searching for a Licensed Dental Assistant that is a strong team player who treats their patients and teammates with dignity and respect. This Licensed Dental Assistant provides optimal care for these patients, responding to their needs in a respectful and professional manner. This position provides a challenging and rewarding opportunity to develop a career as a dental assistant.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Assist the dentist and hygienist with patient treatment in clinic, hospital, and surgical settings.
• Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures.
• Assist in performing operating room dental procedures.
• Assist providers in delivering quality care to patients.
• Sterilize instruments and infection control procedures.
• Perform front desk responsibilities including scheduling, client intakes, and filing.
• Track lab cases to verify the case is sent and delivered prior to delivery appointment.
• Accurately document treatment information in patient charts.
• Assist with billing, medical record services, and clerical responsibilities.

Minimum qualifications:

• Licensed Dental Assistant with the Minnesota State Board of Dentistry.

Preferred qualifications:

• Possess a caring and compassionate attitude towards people with special needs.
• Patient-centered and willing to adapt to the needs of the patient.
• Experience with common oral hygiene techniques and standard dental equipment and methods.
• Experience taking x-rays, chairside assisting, dental charting, record keeping, and infection prevention.
• Experience working with Dentrix and taking digital radiographs.
• Completion of an Allied Sedation Course approved by the Minnesota State Board of Dentistry.

Additional requirements:

Reference/background checks - Direct Care and Treatment will conduct reference checks to verify job-related credentials and criminal background check prior to appointment. Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) healthcare facilities require employees to provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
