Sr. Lead Software Engineer

FULL-TIME (DIRECT HIRE) | TAMPABAY AREA, FL or DALLAS, TX Join an exciting FinTech/Payments company as it builds a new technology platform and business offering from the ground up. We're seeking Senior Full Stack Developers with 15-20 years of experience designing and delivering high-quality software products. LOCATION REQUIRMENTS:
- Candidates must be based in the Tampa Bay area (preferably St. Petersburg, FL) or the Dallas, TX metro area (Plano or Frisco preferred).
- Please do not apply outside of these markets unless you are willing to relocate on your own.
- This is a hybrid role requiring in-office onsite three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
- Leads through technical expertise rather than title.
- Have a passion for clean, maintainable, scalable software.
- Thinks architecturally while remaining pragmatic.
- Understands SOLID principles, Enterprise Integration Patterns, Design Patterns (Gang of Four), and Agile methodologies.
- Enjoys mentoring and developing engineers.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged.
- Part of team to lead the architecture and design of a modern technology platform.
- Develop highly scalable, secure, cloud-native applications utilizing Java and the Spring ecosystem.
- Partner with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
- Define software engineering standards, architectural patterns, and development best practices.
- Mentor and coach software engineers while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance across development teams.
- Approximately 15-20+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience designing and building enterprise Java applications.
- Deep expertise with:
- Java
- Spring Boot and Spring Framework
- REST APIs
- PostgreSQL
- React
- Maven
- AWS Cloud Services (ECS/Fargate preferred)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud architecture.
- Experience designing highly available, scalable software platforms.
- Payment processing or financial services technology
- PCI DSS v4 compliance
- SOC 2 Type II controls
- Secure software development
- Event-driven architecture
- RabbitMQ, Kafka, or JMS messaging
- Kotlin
- AI-assisted software development tools
- Building software within regulated environments
