Director, Disease Area Strategy Lead - General Medicine

Amgen Inc

Amgen seeks a Director to lead General Medicine disease area strategy, integrating scientific, clinical, and commercial perspectives into portfolio and pipeline decisions. The role bridges R&D and commercial functions to shape therapeutic area priorities and guide early-stage asset development.

Responsibilities

Lead development and evolution of General Medicine therapeutic area strategy in partnership with executive leadership
Translate therapeutic area ambitions into disease priorities, portfolio implications, and investment decisions
Serve as commercial strategic lead for early pipeline projects through early development phases
Develop target product profiles and development strategies reflecting patient needs and market differentiation
Partner across R&D, medical, commercial and other functions to structure strategic questions and move toward clear recommendations

Requirements

Strong strategic judgment with scientific curiosity and commercial acumen
Experience developing and executing therapeutic area or portfolio strategy
Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and drive complex decisions
Background in early pipeline or product development assessment
Familiarity with cardiovascular disease and/or bone health therapeutic areas preferred
Proficiency integrating clinical, competitive, and market data into strategy
