Whether you’re an experienced professional, a recent college graduate or somewhere in between, IDEX is a place where you can apply your existing skills and learn new ones in an environment where you can make an impact.With interesting opportunities in engineering, marketing, sales, supply chain, operations, HR, finance, and more across more than 40 diverse businesses around the globe, chances are, we have something special for you.About the role:The Quality Assurance Inspector performs inspection of optical components, metal/manufactured parts, subassemblies/assemblies, products and/or materials for quality and conformance to designed specification by visual comparison, adjustable gauges and test sets.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Performs precise visual and dimensional inspection of optical components and metal parts as needed.Performs FAI's (First Article Inspections) on diverse range of optical components down to 6mm.Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materialsDocuments inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality databaseClearly and professionally communicate inspection findings, quality issues, requests, and status updates via email, Microsoft Teams, and in person with engineers, leads, supervisors, and assembly technicians.Uses good judgment to resolve internal and supplier quality issuesKeeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and upkeep; monitoring their calibration statusAbility to challenge fellow employees regarding qualityAbility to prioritize workload and manage constant shifting daily prioritiesAbility to work well independentlyComplies with health and safety policies and proceduresSupports company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceOTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specificationsMinimum of one-year previous experience regularly using computer and measuring instruments (i.e. Zygo interferometers, SmartScope Vision Systems, Scratch-dig references, Stylus profiler, Optical Comparator, Laser Ruler, Oscilloscope, and other machines or equipment tools required to complete duties and responsibilities listed above)Experience or familiarity with MIL-spec compliance for optical surfaces is highly preferred.Experience with interpretation of GD&T tolerancingAbility to interface with all manufacturing departmentsAbility to compile data for analysisRegularly work in a cleanroom environment with gowning protocol.Comply with the Clean Room Protocol when entering a clean room environmentUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publicationsPersonal protective equipment and clean room attire, as requiredProficient computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel)High degree of accuracy and/or alertness requiredFamiliarity with special terminology as related to the manufacture of optical lens and related productsWork environment / Physical demandsThis position requires working with very small components (down to 6mm) under magnification and specialized lighting.Requires regularly entering a cleanroom environment, which involves a quick and standard gowning process (smock, hair nets, shoe covers, gloves, etc.).Are you ready to join a different kind of company where our people, our culture, and our commitments are centered around providing trusted solutions that improve lives around the world?Total RewardsThe compensation range for this position is $42,500.00 - $63,700.00, depending on experience.
