Opportunity: Neurosurgery

Job Details:

• Full-time coverage needed with 8-12 patients per day
• Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Adult patient population
• Department primarily sees craniotomy patients, with surgeons specializing in skull surgery
• Responsible for both inpatient (~75%) and outpatient (~25%) care
• Outpatient duties include mostly post-op check-ins supported by the attending, with potential for solo visits and assisting with clinic procedures
• Responsible for helping respond to patient messages as needed
• EMR: Epic
• Inpatient special procedures include pulling drains and lumbar punctures; no OR time or first assist required
• Outpatient procedures include removing stitches and fixing shunts
• Must have strong inpatient neurosurgery skills and strong pre- and post-op patient care skills
• Academic/training practice setting
• NP board certification required: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
• California license required
• California DEA with full schedules (2/2n) required
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in an inpatient neurosurgery setting required
• Skull/craniotomy-based surgical experience highly preferred
• Support staff includes RNs, MAs, surgeons, and additional APPs
