This is a full-time onsite role that typically works M – F, 40 hours per week, with a flex as needed. U.S. citizenship is required for this position. Relocation assistance is available.Join a manufacturing engineering team that supports multiple product lines and plays a key role in process improvement, production support, and technology development. In this role, you will help drive manufacturing performance, cost reduction, quality improvement, and deeper process understanding across areas including forming, fluoride crystals, and a newer glass-making technology. This position is ideal for an engineer who can step into a manufacturing environment, manage priorities, lead projects, and support improvement initiatives and capital equipment installations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead projects aimed at achieving manufacturing performance targets for both new and existing processesDefine process limitations based on current equipment and process capabilities and recommend how to eliminate those limitationsLead efforts to develop fundamental understanding of key processes to drive continuous improvement, yield improvement, and cost reductionProvide guidance to management on project priority selectionLead and support critical engineering and development projects that support plant goals and long-term objectivesLeverage technical and engineering resources across the division and company to improve project outcomesInterface with and support development on new product and process introductions, raw material changes, and equipment design changesRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field7+ years of professional non-academic experience in a technical, engineering, or development roleExperience leading or supporting process improvement and process development effortsManufacturing background, ideally in environments involving chemical reactions or material transformation processesStrong technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data and draw conclusionsDemonstrated technical project leadership experience and strong communication skillsIn order to comply with Corning’s government contract requirements at this location, if you receive an offer of employment for this position, you will need to provide documentation of your U.S. citizen status.Preferred Qualifications & SkillsExperience working in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for project execution and process improvementProject management experienceUnderstanding of hypothesis testing, experiment planning, and statistical analysisExperience with structured problem-solving methods such as KT, DMAIC, Six Sigma, or scientific methodAbility to work effectively with production and maintenance employees in a unionized environmentGreen Belt or Black Belt certificationThis position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $97,286.00 - $133,768.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
