Infectious Disease Physician (MD/DO) - UNC Health Rex Summary Provides professional medical services to patients. Responsibilities Provides professional medical services to patients, both in-person and in a virtual setting. Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients. Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals. Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families. Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists and other health care professionals to ensure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided. Documents medical and clinical care in the patient’s medical record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third‑party insurance billing. Supervises other medical professionals. Adheres to the principles of medical ethics. UNC Rex Hospital Founded in 1894, UNC REX Healthcare (a member of UNC Health Care) is a private, non‑for‑profit health care system that joined UNC Health Care in 2000. In addition to a 660‑bed facility in Raleigh, UNC Rex also offers a range of health care services at locations across Wake County. Qualifications Education Requirements: Meeting the Board Certification in Infectious Disease required. Graduation from an accredited school of medicine. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Board Certified Infectious Diseases DEA BLS

Professional Experience Requirements: Prefer prior inpatient experience. Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements: Language Skills: Should be able to communicate proficiently in English. Reasoning Ability: High‑level quantitative and qualitative reason skills are essential to diagnosis medical and clinical issues presented by patients.
