ThePurchasingAgentisresponsibleforsourcing,pricing,andprocuringconstructionmaterialstosupportUnitedMechanical'sconstructionprojectsacrossNorthernCalifornia.Thisrolerequiresstrongproductknowledge,establishedvendorrelationships,andtheabilitytobalancecost,quality,anddeliveryschedules.ThePurchasingAgentworkscloselywithprojectmanagers,fieldoperations,andthewarehouseteamtoensurematerialsareavailableontimeandwithinbudget. Duties/Responsibilities Reviewprojectplansandspecificationstodeterminematerialrequirements. Source,quote,andpurchaseallconstructionandPVFmaterialsincludingcarbonsteel,stainlesssteel,copper,andplasticpipe,valves,andfittings,sheetmetal,usingestablishedlistofvendors.Includessourcingheavymachineryrentals. Negotiatepricing,paymentterms,andfreightwithvendorsanddistributorspercompanyguidelinesandindustrystandardsunderthesupervisionandapprovalofmanagement. Developandmaintainstrongsupplierrelationshipstoensurecompetitivepricing,availability,andon-timedelivery. Process,monitor,andmanageallpurchasesandrequests,includingbackorders,inaccordancewithcompanypoliciesandprojectbudgets,andensureaccurateandtimelydeliveryofmaterials. Communicatewithvendors,projectmanagers,warehouse,andfieldsupervisorswithanyupdatesorissueswithmaterials. Fieldandexecuterequestforquotes"RFQ"whilemaintainingdataaccuracyandcompliance. Mayinclude non-disclosurerequirements. Assistwithreconciliatingallorderspurchasedtoensureallinvoicesareapproved. SupportinventorymanagementandcosttrackingeffortsincoordinationwithAccountingandFacilities. Qualifications Minimum3yearsofexperienceinpurchasing,procurement,orsupplychainwithinthemechanicalconstructionindustry. Strongknowledgeofconstructionmaterialsincludingpipe,valve,andfitting(PVF)products,specifications,andmanufacturers. Strongexperienceworkingwithmechanicalcontractors,fabricators,ordistributorspreferred. Strongnegotiation,communication,andorganizationalskills. Proficientinpurchasingsystems,Excel,andERPsoftware(Sage300orsimilarpreferred). Detail-oriented,deadline-driven,andcapableofmanagingmultipleactiveorders. PriorexperiencewithRFQs,purchaseorders,ormaterialtracking. Experiencesupportingmechanicalcontractors,fabricators,distributors,orconstructionfieldoperations.
