SEEKING PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Founded in 1939, Hopkins House is a nonprofit institution that operates education enriched preschool academies, summer discovery camps, and a college and career development institute, that help build the foundation for 21st century achievement and success in the new global economy. Job Description Hopkins House, a non‑profit learning center for children, youths, and adults, with offices in Alexandria, Fairfax County, and Arlington County, is currently accepting applications and nominations for a program professional to manage the community college program for teens and young adults. Incumbent is responsible for day‑to‑day management of the Early Childhood Education Institute (ECLI). In partnership with Northern Virginia Community College, local childcare centers, and other groups, the ECLI offers college courses, tutoring, counseling, and activities for low‑income teens and young adults, ages 18 years and older, with the goal to assist them to earn early childhood education credentials and college credits leading to an Associate degree. Program Director is responsible for day‑to‑day management of the ECLI, including recruitment and enrollment of eligible students, supervision of staff and budget, and coordination of financial aid and college admissions process. Core Competencies Required Demonstrate strong verbal, writing, and public speaking skills. Demonstrate attention to detail and respect for confidentiality. Demonstrate strong organization skills. Demonstrate familiarity with college recruitment, admissions, and financial aid process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares a schedule of classes and activities. Develops and implements participant recruitment plan. Recruits volunteers to serve as tutors, mentors, and advisors, and as members of the Advisory Committee. Counsels participants individually and in groups about academic schedule, CDA preparation, and careers in the early childhood profession. Supervises staff and budget. Oversees the collection of tuitions and fees. Submits CDA candidacy applications and provides other related duties as may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree or higher. Essential Skills and Experience Minimum of 1 year of professional management/supervisory experience. Strong verbal, writing, and public speaking skills. Strong familiarity with college recruitment, admissions, and financial process. Additional Requirements Must have an automobile and a valid driver's license. Fluency in written and verbal Spanish useful but not required.
