Structural Steel Fitter | Hurricane, UT

Nexeo Staffing is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter to join a growing steel fabrication operation in Hurricane, Utah.

This is a hands-on fabrication role for someone who can read shop drawings, lay out and fit structural steel components, and tack weld assemblies in preparation for final welding. The ideal candidate understands structural steel fabrication and can accurately measure, position, align, and assemble components according to detailed drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, detail drawings, and section views.
• Understand and apply welding symbols and shop fabrication standards.
• Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
• Measure and verify dimensions to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Tack weld structural components in preparation for final welding.
• Use tape measures, squares, levels, and other layout and fitting tools accurately.
• Operate grinders and other fabrication equipment as needed.
• Identify fit-up, alignment, or quality issues before components move to final welding.
• Assist with moving and positioning structural steel throughout the fabrication shop.
• Work closely with welders and production team members to maintain workflow and production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous structural steel fitting, fabrication, or assembly experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
• Understanding of welding symbols and structural steel layouts.
• Ability to fit, align, and assemble structural steel components accurately.
• Ability to perform tack welding for fit-up and assembly.
• Proficient with tape measures, squares, levels, and other measuring/layout tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Strong attendance, reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.

Preferred Experience

• Structural steel fabrication shop experience.
• Familiarity with AWS and AISC fabrication standards.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
• Experience working alongside production welders in a steel fabrication environment.

Pay

$20.00 per hour

Schedule

Full Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Full Time | Monday-Friday | Swing Shift | 3:30 PM – 2:30 AM

• Initial training on day shift for 1–2 weeks.
• Additional $3.00 per hour swing shift differential.
• Overtime available after 40 hours per week.
• Rotating Saturdays may be required during peak production periods.
• If 10-hour shifts are implemented, the schedule will rotate with two Saturdays on and one Saturday off.
