Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Branch Chief, a Supervisor I, of the Office of Workers' Compensation (WC) Payroll Unit, in the Division of Safety and Management Services (DSMS), the Analyst II serves as an analyst providing training, administrative and analytical support for the Workers' Compensation Payroll Unit.

Specifically, the incumbent will develop training curriculum and materials related to the processing of personnel and payroll documents related to WC pay and benefits including, but not limited to creating new and/or revising existing formal and informal training. Research and analyze the most complex payroll and benefit issues to identify and implement appropriate solutions. As needed for coverage purposes, process personnel and payroll documents related to WC pay and benefits for assigned claims.

The incumbent is expected to utilize good organization/time management techniques to appropriately prioritize and complete work in a timely and accurate manner, display a positive attitude, and cultivate a team environment to help accomplish the Division’s Missions and Goals.

Under the general direction of the Supervisor I (Branch Chief), the incumbent provides analytical, administrative, and training support to OTS. The Analyst II models a positive, solutions oriented approach and a strong commitment to delivering high quality, timely, and accurate services that exceed customer expectations.

Working Conditions

Position located at 1727 30th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.

This position is eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’ current telework policy.  While Caltrans supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate may be required to conduct business travel on behalf of the Department or commute to the headquarted location. Business travel reimbursements considers an employee's designated Headquarters location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations and applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquarted location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.  The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.
