Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:


The Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) will provide clinical support in an orthopedic surgery clinic setting, including rooming patients, reviewing medications, administering injections, and fitting bracing and durable medical equipment (DME). The role supports adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and requires strong clinical skills and licensure. This position offers a 13-week contract with potential for permanent hire and requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

• Room patients and record vital signs.
• Review patient medications and administer injections as needed.
• Fit bracing and durable medical equipment (DME) for patients.
• Provide clinical support in an orthopedic surgery clinic environment.
• Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and interdisciplinary team members.
• Utilize clinic systems such as EPIC, SBAR, and Teams for communication and documentation.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential through the Board of Certification.
• Licensed as an athletic trainer in the state of North Carolina (NCBATE license).
• Minimum of 2 years of athletic training or clinical experience; first-time travelers not preferred.
• Proficiency in bracing, DME fitting, vital signs recording, medication review, and injection administration.
• Ability to use electronic medical record systems, specifically EPIC.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in orthopedic surgery or related clinical settings.
• Familiarity with SBAR communication and Teams/Email/Epic messaging systems.
• Previous traveler experience in clinical roles.

Special Considerations:

• RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
• Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit may result in assignment cancellation and Do Not Rebook (DNR) status.
• No call, float, or weekend requirements.
• Scrubs are not provided; navy blue preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 12 hours of unit orientation as determined by the clinic.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
• 8-hour shifts from 08:00 to 17:00.
• Visits approximately 20 patients per day with 3 rooms/beds.
• 13-week contract with option for permanent hire after contract completion.
