Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position at an acute care hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a 286-bed acute care hospital
• Newly developed unit currently operating with 10 beds open, staffed with 2 RNs and 1 tech per shift
• Charge responsibilities are shared between the stepdown unit and the adjacent unit
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Bedside monitoring equipment with telemetry, BP, and pulse oximetry capabilities
• Charting via Epic EMR
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend is required and non-negotiable
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
• No on-call responsibilities
• No off-shift management on-site, though leadership is accessible by phone and available during off-shift hours
• 24/7 house supervisor coverage available

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have the license active prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Community hospital experience preferred
• SSN and driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former MUSC permanent or PRN staff must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Orientation modules must be completed prior to the start date
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• No parking cost at the facility
