Join an economically stable industry that offers long-term career development across 35+ locations.Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking an Accountant to join our growing Accounting & Finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, improving processes, and taking ownership of key accounting activities. The Accountant will support month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, audits, and other core accounting functions across our multi-location organization. This position will also have the opportunity to identify process improvements, introduce new efficiencies, and collaborate across the business to support accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Month-End SupportPrepare and record month-end journal entries, including accruals, payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting under ASC 842Maintain the fixed asset roll-forward, including additions, disposals, and depreciationPrepare balance sheet reconciliations and perform detailed analysis of assigned accounts in accordance with the close calendarManage the property tax accounting process, including coordination with third-party consultantsAnalyze location-level financial results and explain variances and fluctuations to managementAccount for rebate programs, including accrual estimates, tracking, and true-upsPerform bank matching in NetSuite and create monthly deposits using third-party vendor dataAudit & ComplianceAssist with annual audits, including compilation of schedules and supporting work papersProcess Improvement & Special ProjectsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and help implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracyLeverage AI tools (e.g., Claude) to automate and streamline accounting processesContribute to ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives that support operational and strategic goalsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting.3+ years of progressive accounting experience.Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.ERP experience.Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables).Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction while collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.Preferred QualificationsNetSuite experience.Multi-location or multi-entity accounting experience.Experience with a private equity-backed company.Public accounting audit experience.Why Join SharpsSharps Medical Waste Services offers a mission-driven, collaborative environment where employees contribute directly to meaningful operational impact.
