• Shift : Weekends - Hours will vary from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
• Pay: $25.77/hour (paid weekly)

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook II to join our food service team at a high-volume dining facility on Fort Drum. This mid-level role is responsible for preparing cooking and presenting meals in accordance with standardized recipes and portion guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals following standardized recipes portion controls and dietary guidelines.
• Monitor food quality freshness and presentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Uphold food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations (e.g. ServSafe).
• Assist with receiving labeling and storing food supplies using FIFO methods.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to coordinate meal production.
• Support junior staff with guidance and training as needed.
• Respond to routine kitchen challenges with practical timely solutions.
• Maintain a clean organized and efficient work environment during high-volume service periods.

What Youll Need to be Successful:

• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a commercial institutional or high-volume kitchen environment.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience working as a Cook in a commercial institutional or high-volume kitchen.
• Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior kitchen staff is a plus.
• Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing prep timelines.
• Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
• Strong attention to detail time management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for measuring conversions and inventory support.
• Valid Real ID.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

• The position requires standing for extended periods with occasional walking bending and reaching throughout the shift.
• Must be able to lift carry and move food items equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Frequent physical activity including stirring chopping mixing and handling kitchen tools and ingredients.
• Repetitive hand and arm movements are required for tasks such as food prep plating and operating kitchen equipment.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are essential for precise cutting measuring and assembling dishes.
• Work is performed in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat steam sharp tools and moderate to high noise levels.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves aprons and hairnets may be required depending on task and area; training will be provided.
