Hotel Houseman

The Hotel Houseman is responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Department by maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of guest areas and back-of-house areas. The Houseman assists room attendants, responds to housekeeping requests, maintains public areas, handles linens and supplies, and helps ensure the hotel meets company and brand standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include:

• Report to work on time and prepared to begin work at the scheduled start time.
• Maintain reliable attendance and follow the hotel's attendance and call-out procedures.
• Assist Room Attendants with the daily cleaning and servicing of guest rooms as directed.
• Deliver clean linens, towels, amenities, and supplies to guest rooms and housekeeping areas.
• Collect and transport dirty linens, towels, and other housekeeping materials.
• Maintain linen closets, housekeeping closets, and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Remove trash and debris from guest areas, hallways, service areas, and other assigned locations.
• Clean and maintain public areas, including hallways, elevators, stairways, lobbies, and other designated areas.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining back-of-house areas.
• Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from guests and hotel staff.
• Deliver guest-requested items such as towels, blankets, pillows, irons, and other approved amenities.
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment when needed.
• Assist Room Attendants with room projects, deep cleaning, and preventive maintenance cleaning.
• Report maintenance problems, damaged furniture, plumbing issues, electrical concerns, and other room deficiencies to the appropriate department.
• Report lost-and-found items immediately and follow hotel procedures for handling and documenting them.
• Maintain proper chemical handling and cleaning procedures.
• Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and appropriately.
• Follow all hotel, company, Hilton brand, OSHA, health, and safety standards applicable to the position.
• Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required uniform and name badge.
• Protect guest privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding guest information.
• Communicate professionally with guests and coworkers.
• Assist with special cleaning projects, inspections, and hotel events as assigned.
• Complete all assigned duties before leaving the property unless otherwise authorized by management.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Attendance and Punctuality Expectations

Attendance is an essential responsibility of this position. The Houseman must:

• Report to work on time and be ready to begin duties at the scheduled start time.
• Follow the posted work schedule.
• Properly clock in and out according to company policy.
• Notify management promptly when an emergency prevents the employee from reporting to work.
• Follow the hotel's call-out procedures.
• Remain on the property during scheduled working hours unless authorized by management.
• Obtain approval before leaving the property during a scheduled shift.
• Maintain dependable attendance and avoid excessive tardiness or unscheduled absences.

Failure to meet attendance and punctuality expectations may result in corrective or disciplinary action, up to and including termination, consistent with company policy.

Guest Service Expectations

The Houseman represents the hotel whenever interacting with guests. Employees are expected to:

• Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming hotel environment.
• Immediately report guest concerns that cannot be resolved directly to a supervisor or manager.
• Respect guest privacy and personal belongings at all times.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and reach.
• Lift and carry linens, supplies, trash, and equipment.
• Push housekeeping carts and other equipment.
• Safely perform repetitive cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
• Work in guest rooms, public areas, and other hotel environments.

Qualifications

The qualifications include:

• Previous hotel or housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
