Step into an impactful role supporting elementary-aged students in an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classroom for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference at a single elementary site near Howell, MI. You'll be part of a dedicated team, collaborating to ensure every student receives the specialized instruction and support they need to thrive.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Michigan Special Education Teacher certification required
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum strongly preferred
- Previous teaching or student teaching experience in elementary special education settings
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff and families
- Must successfully complete fingerprinting and meet all district onboarding requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction in a specialized ASD classroom for elementary-aged learners
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with school staff, support personnel, and families to deliver cohesive support
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
- Participate in virtual panel-style interviews and ongoing professional development as needed
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all state and federal education requirements
