We are seeking an experienced professional to join our manufacturing team and play a critical role in the fabrication, repair, and continuous improvement of machine parts that support our operations.In this position, you will work with advanced machining equipment, contribute to process improvements, and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.What You'll DoSet up, operate, and optimize CNC and conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, EDM equipment, drill presses, and polishing machinesFabricate, modify, and repair precision machine components and spare partsMonitor part quality and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and tolerancesInterpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering documentation to determine machining methods and production sequencesDesign and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, templates, and work aids to improve efficiency and qualityVerify finished part dimensions using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauge blocksSupport preventive maintenance activities for machine shop equipmentDevelop and implement process improvements to enhance machining performance and productivityDocument fabrication activities using machine shop software and databasesCollaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to provide technical expertise and supportAssist with training and mentoring apprenticeship candidates when neededContribute to the launch and support of new spare-part initiativesWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum of 4 years of CNC machining experience in an industrial or manufacturing environmentStrong experience with CNC setup, operation, troubleshooting, and quality controlAbility to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specificationsProficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection techniquesPreferred QualificationsAssociate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related fieldCompletion of a Department of Labor approved apprenticeship program focused on metalworking or machiningEquivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be consideredTechnical Skills & KnowledgeCNC machining, milling, turning, grinding, EDM, and related metalworking processesTooling fixtures, work holding devices, and machining best practicesPrecision fabrication methods, including heat treating, coating, polishing, and finishingBlueprint reading and geometric dimensioning principlesMathematics relevant to machining, including geometry and trigonometryManufacturing software, databases, and digital documentation systemsWelding and metal fabrication fundamentalsKey Success FactorsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsEffective verbal and written communicationAbility to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentCollaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvementCommitment to workplace safety and operational excellenceWork EnvironmentRotating shift schedule with flexibility to support operational needsParticipation in planned shutdown coverage as requiredOpportunity to develop expertise in specialized machining areas such as EDM, milling, turning, grinding, or precision toolingCompany OverviewFor more than 60 years Blum has been manufacturing superior quality hinge systems, drawer runners, and lift systems that create emotion and enhance user convenience in the kitchen.
