Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Laser Operator to join our production floor. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating Amada fiber lasers and Mitsubishi CO2 lasers to fabricate high-precision metal parts. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, can interpret technical blueprints, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Set-Up & Operation: Prepare, program, and run Amada fiber lasers and Mitsubishi CO2 lasers according to daily production schedules. Adjust machine settings, gas pressures, focus, and nozzle conditions based on material type and thickness.
- Material Handling: Select and load pre-programmed jobs from machine controllers and safely load/unload raw material sheets onto laser decks using proper material handling techniques.
- Quality Assurance: Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and engineering drawings. Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to perform first-piece and in-process visual inspections to ensure tolerances are strictly met.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine daily equipment maintenance (cleaning lenses, checking/replacing nozzles, monitoring gas levels). Monitor live machine operations to proactively catch and correct cutting issues.
- Post-Cut Processing: Sort finished parts, deburr rough edges, and stage components for subsequent production stages.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all shop safety protocols and PPE guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Verifiable experience operating CNC laser cutting machinery; direct experience running Amada fiber or Mitsubishi CO2 lasers is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, following complex schematics, and navigating standard CNC controller interfaces.
- Math Skills: Solid understanding of industrial math, fractions, decimals, and shop measurements.
- Physical Demands: Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, handle sharp metal components, and stand for extended periods.
